Totalmente recomendable.

Been to Antrim 2 times before for dinner at the Smokehouse Restaurant. Both times the service, food and atmosphere were fantastic! Decided to book a room for my wife’s birthday weekend, and obviously a third reservation at the Smokehouse. We stayed in the Grant Suite. The room was very spacious and clean and made the trip all the more worth while! Dinner that evening was again top notch, just like the first 2 times! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get away, whether for a week or just a weekend. Thank you all for your wonderful accommodations, and for a fantastic weekend stay!

We’ve visited this place several times as hotel guests and, in many ways, it’s been a wonderful experience. The grounds, the soaking tubs, and the overall ambiance make it a memorable destination. The true highlight, however, is the wine dinner. The pairings are exceptional, and the food changes frequently, always impressing us.

That said, our recent stay has left us with mixed feelings. Over the years, this bed and breakfast has fluctuated from being one of our top recommendations to a place we would only suggest for the wine dinner. Much of this variation depends on how the hotel handles weddings, and unfortunately, this time, the experience was disappointing.

The hotel often prioritizes wedding parties over other guests, and it was especially evident during our stay. We were playing cards in one of the open spaces when staff began setting up for the cocktail hour. While we were initially told we could stay, about 15 minutes later, the wedding guests started filling the room, and we were asked to move to the bar. The staff reassured us that the bar was for hotel guests, but when we moved there, it quickly became overcrowded, and the wedding guests began filling the space. It was frustrating because we had purchased $17 cocktails, intending to relax and finish our game, but instead, we felt pushed out by the rowdy wedding party. There was no prior communication that the cocktail hour would take place at that time, and had we known, we could have planned accordingly.

The lack of communication and the feeling of being secondary to the wedding party really impacted our experience.

Additionally, there was a mix-up with our dietary restrictions at dinner. I had mentioned when making the reservation that I do not eat red meat or pork, but when the appetizer arrived, it contained bison and pork belly. I was surprised, as I had hoped the kitchen would take more care given the note on my reservation. While I understand mistakes happen, when I mentioned the issue to the waiter, he replaced the bison but left the pork, claiming that pork was a white meat. This created an uncomfortable moment, and I felt uneasy about the rest of the meal. Worse still, the replacement for the bison was a single piece of strawberry and grape with a small drizzle of balsamic, which felt like a disappointing and unfair substitute.

This was meant to be a special farewell to a place that has hosted many of our anniversaries and celebrations, so these issues felt particularly upsetting.

When we brought our concerns to the receptionist the next morning, we were met with a dismissive attitude. She essentially justified the priority given to the wedding guests by mentioning they paid for the cocktail hour, which made us feel like our comfort and experience as regular guests didn’t matter. At the very least, a gesture like comping our drinks would have been appreciated.

While we’ve had great experiences here in the past, this stay has left us unsure about returning. If you’re planning to visit, we highly recommend checking if a wedding is booked during your stay—otherwise, you may find yourself second to the wedding party.

TLDR: If there’s a wedding happening, consider staying elsewhere to avoid feeling like a second-class guest.

We used Antrim 1844 as our wedding reception venue this past January, and it was truly magical from start to finish. The scenery was absolutely beautiful—charming, romantic, and picture-perfect in every way. The service was outstanding across the board, from the hotel staff to the incredible food and bar service.

We received so many compliments on the food—multiple guests told us it was the best wedding meal they’ve ever had, hands down. The reception hall was spacious yet felt warm and inviting, especially with the cozy fireplace. It was the perfect setting for dinner, speeches, and dancing the night away.

One of the things we appreciated most was being able to set up a day early, which took a lot of stress off our shoulders. The staff was incredibly helpful with cleanup and organization, making everything seamless and easy for us.

The after-party in the Mansion and surrounding guest houses was a fantastic way to end the evening. It allowed our family and friends to relax, stay overnight, and enjoy even more time together. The bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and even gave us a private tour of the wine room—such a special touch.

We stayed in the Boucher Suite, and it was everything we hoped for. From the champagne to the snacks and breakfast items, every detail made our night feel magical.

We can’t recommend Antrim 1844 highly enough for weddings or special events. The team (especially Katie!) made our big day unforgettable, and we’re so grateful.

We were guests for a wedding this weekend and I have to applaud the staff who took my husbands food allergy very seriously. He was fully expecting not to be able to eat, even packed a sandwich, but he mentioned to the staff that he has a onion and garlic allergy and they made sure he was able to eat everything on the menu. He was so pleasantly surprised and elated that they took such great care of him. Thank you so much

Our wedding was 2 days ago at Antrim and it was wonderful!! The staff was great and kind and helpful, they gave excellent service! The rooms were beautiful, the bed was so comfortable, and the staff so kindly set up a plate of our desserts and some champagne in our room since we didn’t get to have much during the wedding due to dancing. Jill was so helpful and quick to respond she made sure all my details were perfect! Our guests loved the venue and the service as well!! The rose garden is also beautiful at this time of year! Thank you Antrim

Antrim 1844 is a truly delightful place. My husband and I stayed in the main house (there are a number of other room/suite choices in other buildings on the property). The entire facility is impeccably decorated in mid-1800s style furniture, paintings, and wall hangings. Many of the rooms have fireplaces, both woodburning and gas. Our room, Clabaugh, had a cozy king featherbed, with an antique armoire and other furniture and a view out two sides of the building over what in non-winter months is the garden. The Smokehouse Restaurant in the main building was excellent, with a seven-course dinner offering that was well worth the cost. The executive chef is a young Peruvian, who apparently trained with the best. The cuisine was creative, flavorful, and had many unexpected but delicious details. Our stay felt like stepping back in time; we were looking for a not-too-far-away getaway, and Antrim 1844 fit the bill perfectly. We'll be back.
