I am so grateful to Attorney Schatz and her team at Berkshire Center for Justice for their work in helping me recover a security deposit that was wrongfully withheld by my former landlord. She charged an extremely reasonable rate based on my income, and really took the time to learn about the details of my case in order to represent me properly. Then, she accompanied me to my housing court date, and also represented me at an additional hearing. My car was totaled by another person who was 100% at fault. We both had the same insurance company. The insurance company sent me a letter with the amount of payment they would send me for my car. They said a check is being sent to me. The amount however was $1092.00 less than the amount they were to send me. I am an old lady on a very limited budget and I was desperate because I had to buy a replacement car. So I called the Berkshire Center for Justice and met with a team member at one of their weekly clinics at the Guthrey Center. I went a had a detailed lengthy interview and they gathered my information and facts. I had hope and followed up on more facts from the collision company and the insurance company,, and a phone call from the center with advice and encouragement. I challenged the companies position with proof and facts. They said they would look again at my case. I called again and was told they sent me a check for $1092.00. I won! I am a senior woman and I was scammed by a local car dealer into buying a car I didn't even want, and the $50,000 loan with over $800 a month payments was going to break me financially. The Berkshire Center for Justice stepped in to help me and a number of other people in the same situation with this company. They won our cases all without going to court.
Eve Shatz and her associate Barbara, were amazing. it took time but the loan was canceled and returned to the dealership with the car and I was given $$ in compensation.
