We have been at FEC since our oldest started kindergarten 3 years ago, and it has been a wonderful experience! The hybrid model has been working great for our family, and we feel like we get the "best of both worlds"--the benefits homeschooling, and the benefits of a small private school. The extra structure and accountability FEC provides (versus a more "traditional" homeschool co-op) helps to keep us motivated and on track. Our kids so enjoy their FEC days with their teachers and friends, and definitely have a lot of school pride!

We have been apart of FEC since its inception. FEC has been a blessing to our family and enabled me to work part-time while homeschooling 5 kids! My kids have had wonderful teachers and classmates, been challenged academically, and grown in their spiritual walk. Is it perfect? No, but no institution is. The board and teachers truly care about my kids and strive to do their best, while providing a much-needed support to my homeschooling journey.

I feel it's important to share my experience with Frederick East Classical in a genuinely concerned manner, as I believe families considering this co-op deserve a comprehensive understanding. My intention is not to be negative, but rather to shed light on certain aspects that could potentially impact the well-being of students and their families.

One notable area that warrants attention is the school's organizational structure. I've observed instances where priorities seem misaligned, with the focus often appearing to be on the interests of the leadership rather than on what truly matters for the students' growth and development.

Open communication is essential in any educational setting. However, I've found that the leadership's approach to communication has been less than comprehensive. This deficiency in communication, coupled with a reluctance to take responsibility when required, can understandably lead to frustration and confusion among parents and students alike.

In my experience, the platform used to relay student assignments has at times presented a mismatch with teachers' expectations. This misalignment can understandably cause confusion and hinder students' ability to succeed in their studies.

Consistency in enforcing rules and guidelines is crucial for maintaining a conducive learning environment. Unfortunately, I've observed instances where rules, particularly the dress code, are inconsistently followed. This lack of uniformity, such as selective enforcement of dress code violations, could potentially contribute to an uncomfortable atmosphere for students.

An educational institution should foster an environment of professionalism and respect. Instances where certain staff members do not adhere to appropriate dress standards, without appropriate intervention from the leadership, can indeed create a disparity in expectations.

It's also been my observation that the leadership might be somewhat detached from the real-life challenges that the families they serve face. Empathy and understanding of the diverse needs of the student body and their families are essential qualities for effective leadership.

Furthermore, feeling like outsiders due to the interactions with teachers is disheartening. A sense of inclusivity is vital for students' emotional well-being and engagement in the learning process.

My previous review was taken down due to concerns of defamation, indicating the institution's proactive approach to safeguarding its reputation. This episode underscores the challenges one might encounter when trying to initiate a constructive dialogue about important matters.

I strongly advise families to conduct thorough research before making decisions about their children's education. The experiences my family had left us feeling hurt and isolated, emotions I wouldn't wish upon anyone. It's my sincere hope that sharing these observations will help families make informed choices about their educational journeys.
