Worst Resettlement Agency Ever!!! If you had the choice to select PLEASE DO NOT select IRC Silver spring, none of the staff members are helpful. All of them lie, they provide inconsistent guidance, never responsive, so irresponsible, every staff has a different information to share, unprofessional case workers

Irresponsibility and unprofessionalism at its best!
As an immigrant, the suffering we had in three months provided by IRC was no less than what we had back home. I don't want to be greedy but request IRC to walk in an immigrant's shoes.

Worst resettlement agency there is. I am helping a family whose IRC case worker could not care less. Her phone is off when the family needs anything or has any emergency. After two months of coming to this country, and being told their social security is applied for, they found out it was never initiated and had to go themselves to social security office to apply for it. They are constantly being lied to and questions left unanswered.

I called them money times and no one is answering. They said I have to put a voice message that they will answer it the next working day but they did not answer.

The donation coordinator told me this office would be open to receive donations on the most recent federal holiday, so I drove a full carload of kitchen goods, bedding, winter clothing and toiletries an hour to Silver Spring, only to find a piece of paper taped to the door saying they were closed.

THIS is why there is still so much unmet need even in an area as wealthy as ours, because the people who work at these organizations just too often lack basic organizational and communication skills. People who are efficient enough to make the system work more effectively take those skills to higher-paying options. It would not have been hard for the coordinator to drop me a one-lime email letting me know things had changed so I didn’t waste a chunk of my day off, that he couldn’t bother means this place gets crossed off my list for the future. Sigh. I should have just gone to Goodwill to begin with instead of trying to give refugees winter coats, I guess.

It is the biggest agency , with large numbers of staff , but please try to be kind and honest with immigrants and refugees once you promise them try to do it , don’t say lie .
You may don’t know how they suffer by your bad behavior .
